A drainage basin is the area of land where all precipitation drains into a particular river.

  • a. The watershed is where two rivers meet.

  • b. The source is always at a low point in the land.

  • c. At the mouth, rivers always flow into the sea.

4. Research a well-known river like the Thames or Nile. Make a list of facts including:

  • Where its source is.

  • Any major tributaries.

  • Where its mouth is.

  • Other key information, like total length, and which counties or countries it runs through.
